Welcome to Hill Country Paws! We’re Henry and Emily Hershberger, and together with our five children, we raise family-raised puppies on our 40-acre farm in the rolling hills of Holmes County, Ohio. Along with caring for our horses and working the farm, raising happy, healthy puppies has become one of our family’s greatest joys.
At Hill Country Paws, every puppy is part of our daily life. From the day they’re born, they receive individual attention, early socialization, and plenty of love from our entire family. If you’re unable to visit in person, we proudly partner with Furry Trails Pet Transport to help families across the continental United States safely bring home their new puppy. Their experienced team provides door-to-door, climate-controlled transportation, making the process simple and comfortable for both you and your puppy.

Totally AMAZING!!
From the first contact with Henry to the delivery of our Havapoo pup, Stella (now named Kali Ko), we have nothing but positive feedback. Kali arrived by transport service in the timeframe stated – the service was in contact with any changes for arrival time. She was not a bit traumatized by the transport – it was quite obvious that she’s been well cared for. Kali had been well-socialized (I imagine five kids helps with that! 😝), had all of her vaccines and wormings, was microchipped, and was sent with a bag of the food she’d been eating at the breeders. All of her health records were delivered with her. When the transport guy placed her in my arms, she felt and smelled as if she’d just been bathed, groomed, and brushed.
Kali will probably be our last dog (we’re pushing 70 years old) and I can’t think of a better breeder to have found for this next chapter! A HUGE THANK YOU to Henry, Emily, and the kids crew for being such responsible and responsive breeders!!

Lucy the Cavapoo has been the BEST addition to our family since getting her on 10/4/24 & she was around 5 months old at that time. She’s completed Level 1 Obedience & currently just graduated Confidence Builder 1 tonight & she’s graduating to go on to Confidence Builder 2 next, because she does have some work needing to be done because she’s so submissive & pretends to be shy, (but that is expected because we got her a little older than a young puppy). ❤️ She absolutely LOVES all things AGILITY course related, we’ve also found out!! She’s my “velcro” pup; wherever I go- she goes, on & off-leash. She’s the sweetest, most attentive, obedient, and affectionate girl! We’re planning to continue furthering her professional dog training to hopefully one day become an (official) ESA dog, to visit nursing homes, hospitals, etc.. Henry & Emily were great for their kindness & quick communication. My mom’s friend/co-worker has Lucy’s brother, currently named Waffles, too. So it’s cute when we get them together! Hi Nicole is now Sweetie Joy and she lives up to her name. We live in a senior citizen building and the people here adore her. I picked her up on 11/4/24 @ 5 months she is 9 mths now. She is bright quick learner. Her biggest fault is she loves to tear up paper. She is a sweetheart and makes people laugh and smile. One man said she makes him feel so peaceful. She came from gentle breeders
When I purchased Sweetie Joy her name was Nicole, and she was 5.5 months. Full of energy and smart . I took her to the vet right away. She got an excellent report. Emily and Henry thank you so much for taking such good care of my girl. I will post a picture if I can figure out how. Sweetie Joy is a Havapoo and looks more like a poodle than havanese, and that’s fine by me.

Best breeder in Ohio
We purchased a havapoo back in July 2024. When we purchased her, she was current on all her puppy shots in perfect health. Becca is a very loving dog that loves people and all animals. Anytime I had questions. It was easy to get in contact with the breeder. But you get a nice gift bag With a free bag of dog food for your puppy. She came microchip. All I had to do was activate it had all current shot records, so it was extremely easy to get her set up for an appointment when we pulled up. They had her outside in a little ring pen Waiting on us. Animals are starting to become a big investment and I can guarantee you, you have comfort and knowing that the animals is backed by 100% guarantee if it winds up passing away within the first year due to a disease or some type of illness it might’ve had. When we get a bigger yard, I am going back to purchase another puppy from him.

We do our best to provide you with a healthy, well-adjusted puppy from our farm to your home. Your furry friend’s vaccines and worming will be up to date when you make the purchase, but any healthcare after the puppy joins your family will be your responsibility. Keep in mind that puppies may experience stress during the transition to life in their new home, which can increase their chances for some treatable illnesses. In the very rare case that your puppy is found to have a life-threatening genetic defect, confirmed by multiple veterinarians, you will receive a full refund or a new puppy. Welcoming a puppy into your family is a commitment, and you play an important role in nurturing your puppy’s growth into a healthy adult. Through proper diet, exercise, and quality living conditions, you can set your puppy up to thrive.
